POLAND - Martin Joseph 'Marty' Tellman, 76, passed away Saturday morning, August 13 at Hospice House in Poland surrounded by his family. Marty was born on December 20, 1939 in Youngstown, a son of Martin and Josephine (Baytos) Tellman. A 1957 Chaney High School graduate, he went on to earn a metallurgy degree from Youngstown State University. Marty served in the Army National Guard, and retired after 44 years in the steel industry from WCI Steel. He was a member of First Christian Church. An avid hunter and fisherman, Marty belonged to the "Big Bucks Club," where he was recognized for harvesting the biggest buck - a 21 point- in Ohio in 1964. He was a member of the Beavercreek Sportsman Club, a freemason of Allen Lodge, and a life member of the NRA. Marty leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife Joyce, whom he married May 27, 1961; a daughter Laura Tellman; and a son Marty Tellman and his wife Dawn. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Carole Smith. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church, 39 Cherry St., Columbiana with Pastor John Reed officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm St., Columbiana, OH 44408. They will also receive friends one hour prior to the service, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. A Masonic Service provided by the Columbiana Allen Lodge F & AM 276 will follow the calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Marty's memory to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrot Road, Poland, OH 44514.
