EAST PALESTINE - Martin 'Marty' P. Tancer, 72, of East Palestine, passed away early Saturday morning, May 24 at Hospice House with his wife by his side. Marty was born on August 31, 1941 in Youngstown, a son of Victor G. and Olga (Neumann) Tancer. He was a life-long resident of East Palestine. Marty married the former Deanna Mellott on June 20, 1964 and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this June. He was employed through Local 66 Operating Engineers He was employed through Local 66 Operating Engineers and operated heavy equipment for 52 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, farming, raising cattle, and his 4-wheeler. He loved spending time with his family, especially his five grandchildren. Marty leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife Deanna; two daughters, Dina (Alan) Hopps of Dubai, U.A.E., and Denise (Tim Peterson) Tancer of New Waterford; one son, Drew (Skye) Tancer of East Palestine; five grandchildren, Lauren, Martin, Forest, Hayden, and Lucienne; two sisters, Margaret Bush of Hartville and Vera Kovach of Austintown; four brothers, Victor (Carol) Tancer of Canfield, John (Mary) Tancer of New Springfield, Joe (Elizabeth) Tancer of Punta Gorda, FL, and Don Tancer of Arcadia, FL.; and mother-in-law Lista Mellott. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Andrew, Frank, and Lou. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 27 from 12 -2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Marty's memory to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrot Rd, Poland, OH 44514.
