YOUNGSTOWN – Mary Ann (Costello) Pitzo, 71, passed away early Saturday morning, October 12, 2024, with her family by her side.
Mary Ann was born September 13, 1953, a daughter of Herbert Hoover and Helen Virginia (Cozad) Costello. A 1971 Springfield Local High School graduate, she married Thomas Edward Pitzo on October 14, 1972. Mary Ann and Tom were members of Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima. She worked as a teacher's aide, and babysat, and most recently was a cashier at Nemenz IGA in Struthers. Mary Ann lived for her children and her grandchildren, always watching their many extracurricular activities. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and had some of the best friends one could ever have.
She is survived by daughters Rox Ann (William) Sullivan of Columbus and April (William) Mellott of New Middletown; eight grandchildren Cody (Elise) Pitzo, Tristan (Courtney) Sullivan, Brendan (Madison) Sullivan, Aidan and Logan Sullivan, Cherokee, Savanna and Hunter Mellott; and six great-grandchildren Luna, Ophelia, Willow Ann, Cameron, Avery and Roman; sister Marijo Mazon and brother George Costello; and her Goddaughter Michele Costello; as well as several nieces and a nephew.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband Tom, son James Pitzo, brother Michael Costello and sister Beth Ann Costello.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11:00 am at Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ, 410 W. South Range Rd, North Lima with Pastor Brian Lott officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Mary Ann's memory to the Hope Center for Cancer Care, 835 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514.
The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
