COLUMBIANA- Maxine F. Echard, 90, passed away Tuesday morning at St. Mary's Alzheimer Center in Columbiana. Maxine was born on June 21, 1923 in Pawnee, Neb., the daughter of Robert and Della (Pummel) Vollnogle. A 1942 graduate of Fairfield High School, she was a substitute mail carrier for the USPS. Maxine was a mural painter, having painted murals on walls in numerous churches in the area. In her spare time, she loved to sew, crochet, and garden. She was a member of Trinity Friends Church in Lisbon and the Columbiana Boat Club. Maxine leaves to cherish her precious memories two sons, Robert (Linda) Echard of Salem and Dave (Barbara) Echard of Leetonia; a brother, Kenneth (Alice Mae) Vollnogle of Lisbon; eight grandchildren, Amy, Melissa, Julie, Jamie, Ryan, Mike, Julie Y., Ed, and Travis; and 15 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, whom she married on August 23, 1947 and died on Jan. 9, 1990; a son Jack; a granddaughter Ginger; and a half-brother, Sam Clinton Browning. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. With Pastor Richard Jones of Trinity Friends Church in Lisbon officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home.
