Obituary

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana with Rev. Thomas Ziegler officiating, for Michael J. Soltis, 84, who passed away Saturday, March 17, at Caprice Health Center. Michael was born on Oct. 7, 1927, in Youngstown, a son of Michael A. and Barbara (Marcinko) Soltis, and was a lifelong area resident. He served his country during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of the U.S. Navy. Michael was a truck driver in earlier years. More recently, he was a carpenter and belonged to Carpenter's Union 171 in Youngstown. He enjoyed woodworking and watching Westerns on television. Michael leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Dorothy, whom he married on Feb. 23, 1952; two daughters, Patricia Cathcart of Charleston, S.C. and Barbara Alansky of Boardman; one son, Michael J. of Venice, Fla.; and one grandson, Tim Soltis, also of Venice, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima.
