Obituary

Mildred Frances Kohler, 77, of Poland, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 8:00 pm, at the Hampton Woods. She was born February 10, 1930, in Salem, Ohio, a daughter of Howard and Mildred Geiger Kohler and step-daughter of Evelyn Cernyar Kohler. Miss Kohler was the niece of Carl and Irma Whittenberger who raised her following her mother's death on February 10, 1930. She was a graduate of South High School, the college of Wooster, and the Katherine Gibbs School-New York. While living in Washington, D.C., Miss Kohler was employed by the national headquarters of the American Association of University Women and later by the National Geographic Society. After moving to Cleveland, Ohio, she spent thirty years as Executive Secretary to the Vice President and later President of the Durkee Famous Foods Division of the Glidden Company. Following the company's takeover by Reckitt & Coleman, LTD., she served as Executive Administrative Secretary to the CEO of Reckitt & Coleman's U.S. Division until her retirement in 1986. Miss Kohler was a member of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, the Springfield Township Historical Society, and the Western Reserve Republican Women's Organization. She also enjoyed traveling in earlier years. She is survived by her sister Kathleen (Alan) Patterson and her brother Lee F. (Judy) Kohler, both of Springfield Township. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Fred Kohler, Roy Kohler, Kerry Blakeman, Joy Hogg, Reid Patterson, Emily Patterson and 10 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one cousin, Edmond Whittenberger. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in North Lima with Dr. Robert Bardeen officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Friday, May 25, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in North Lima. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 219, Petersburg, Ohio 44454. Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in North Lima handled the arrangements.
