Mildred LaRue Roepke Washburn, 78, of North Lima, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Washburn was born on July 19, 1930 in North Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Herman and Marie (Shaffer) Roepke. Mrs. Washburn was a homemaker. She attended Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima. Mildred enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, reading books and traveling, especially to Dollywood, Tennessee. Mildred was preceded in death on April 5, 1985 by her husband, Glen J. Washburn, whom she married on August 4, 1951. Mrs. Washburn is survived by three daughters, Robin Washburn of New Middletown, Ohio, Carol (Gary) Landsberger of East Palestine, Ohio, Donna (Terry) VanTassel of North Lima, Ohio; one sister, Kathryn Mulhall of Poland, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Vinkler; and by three brothers, William, Paul and Carl Roepke. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima with Rev. Gary Rinker officiating, in the absence of Rev. Peter Kerlin. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the church on Wednesday, December 31, 2008.
