COLUMBIANA - Miriam Catharine (Ziegler) Walter, 92, passed away peacefully at Whispering Pines Village Friday afternoon January 9, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 25, 1922 in Leetonia, a daughter of Paul A. and Edith Catharine (Witmer) Ziegler. A Fairfield High School graduate, Miriam earned her RN in Salem and BSN from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. She was employed as a school nurse for 21 years. On May 14, 1945, she married Reverend Raymond David Walter and together they would raise four children. Miriam was of the Presbyterian faith and belonged to the VFW. Miriam was preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond (1984) and son Timothy Dale Walter (2013). To cherish her precious memory, she leaves two daughters, Nancy Mauro of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Jane Mann of Columbia, SC; a daughter-in-law, Pamela (wife of Timothy) of Latrobe, PA; grandchildren Margo Catharine Mann, Alison Meredith Mann, and Cady Walter; and three great-grandchildren, Mia and William Appenzeller and Jacob Charles. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 11 at 2 p.m. at Whispering Pines Village, 937 E. Park Ave., Columbiana, OH 44408. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.
