Muriel Jones, age 89, went home to be with the Lord May 17 at Sterling House of Salem where she had resided since November of 2009. She joins her soul mate and husband of more than 65 years, Hilton, who passed away in 2008. She was born in Poland Township to the parents of Ralph and Anna Stewart. She attended Youngstown College and Bowling Green University. She worked in the offices of Fitzsimmons Steel of Youngstown, Ohio and was a teacher's aide in the South Range Schools. She had been a member of Mt. Olivet Church of Christ for 60 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother. Surviving are her daughters: Marianne (William) Pemberton and Jill (James) Scovern. Her beloved grandchildren: Eric (Melanie) Pemberton, Shannon (James) Eller, Vince (Lisa) Scovern, and Sara (Matt) Shields. Her great granddaughters are Lauren Scovern and Summer Shields. There are no calling hours. The funeral service will be at Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ on May 21 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Melinda Q. Lacefield and burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Sterling House of Salem for making Mom feel so special during her time there.
