CLEVELAND - Nancy L. Saviers, 79, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, June 22 at University Hospital in Cleveland. Mrs. Saviers was born on November 19, 1936 in Salem, a daughter of Paul and Gladys (Maffett) Miller. A 1954 Salem High School graduate, she also earned a certificate in comptometry from the Penn-Ohio Business School. She married Glenn S. Saviers on July 21, 1957. She began work in the East Palestine School system as a bus driver, but later worked as the elementary school secretary. She was currently in her 42nd year there. She loved working in the schools, and knew generations of children. Nancy was a life-long member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and she served as the organist and a member of the choir there. She enjoyed music and her card clubs, and getting together with her 'Lunch Bunch,' a group of friends from her high school days. Her memory is cherished by her two daughters Cindy McKinstry and her husband Dan and Judy Jayne, all of East Palestine; two sons Dr. Daniel Saviers of Jacksonville, OR and Carl Saviers and his wife Tami of Randolph, OH; 10 grandchildren Ryan Jayne, Katie Tomin, Megan Axworthy, Jennessa Vega, Marisa Rossi, Alison Saviers, Rochele Saviers, Amber James, Carl G. Saviers and Tommy Saviers; and two great grandchildren Evan and Bodie Jayne as well as one on the way. Also mourning her loss are her brothers Richard (Donna) Miller and Byron Miller and her sister Lynne (Lew) Hartbough. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Glenn, who passed away August 19, 1987. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 13519 Woodworth Road, New Springfield, with Pastor Aimee Raymond and Pastor David Janz officiating. Interment will follow at Petersburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 28 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Nancy's memory to the American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
