Grubbs, 81, of Sandusky, Ohio, formerly of Columbiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at 9:30 p.m. at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. Newton was born September 26, 1925 in Columbiana, Ohio, the son of Newton B. and Flora Crawford Grubbs. Newton moved to Sewickley, Pennsylvania where he resided until 1944. After W.W. II, he returned to Columbiana in 1946 and stayed there until 1972. He then moved to Warren and returned to the Columbiana area in 1998. Mr. Grubbs owned and operated the family farm on Crestview Road, for 26 years. He then retired from farming and worked at Trumbull Manufacturing of Warren, Ohio. He also worked at I.T.T. Grinnell as a machinist for 18 years and in his retirement, he worked part time for Wollam Chevrolet of Cortland, Ohio. Newton was a member of the Columbiana Presbyterian Church. He served in W.W.II as a Navy vet from 1944-1946 in the European Theatre. He was also a life member of Washingtonville V.F.W. and a member of AMVETS in Salem, Ohio. Newton is survived by one son James Grubbs and his wife Alice of Leetonia and two grandchildren, Candace Grubbs and Jason W. Vogel and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Grubbs was preceded in death by a brother Andrew Grubbs, one half -sister Helen Nelson and one half-brother Ray Crawford. Services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Pastor Cheryl Vanatsky officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.
