Oris E. Beight, age 73 , Lynn Ave., Youngstown, OH, passed away at 11:46 am Thursday, March 17, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Youngstown from heart failure. Mr. Beight, the son of Fred and Daisy (Burkey) Beight, was born on May 30, 1937 in Youngstown, OH. Oris was a graduate of North Lima H.S in 1957. He moved to N. Lima in 1950 and then to Youngstown in 1994. Mr. Beight retired from the United Steel Service of Brookfield, OH in 2002. Prior to that he had worked at Alleghany Steel of Youngstown, and at the Carbon Limestone Co. of Lowellville OH for forty years as a dragline operator. He was a very active member of the Calvary United Methodist Church of North Lima and had been a past trustee. He had also been a member of the Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 24 years. Oris is survived by his wife, Shirley A. (Fry) Beight, whom he married June 14, 1958. Survivors also include one son, Timothy (Bobbie) Beight of Amherst, two daughters, Cathryn Bowell of Youngstown, and Cammy (David) Garland of Canfield, two sisters, LaVerne (William) Oldfield of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Christine Conrad, of Peoria, AZ, and one brother, Fred (Shirley) Beight Jr., of New Middletown. Also survived by seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Preceding in death are three brothers, Melvin, Ernest, and Ralph Beight, son-in-law Anthony Bowell, and daughter-in-law Jean Beight. Services will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, N. Lima, at 1:30 pm with Pastor Renae Meggitt officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday March 20, 2011 at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, North Lima, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
