SEBRING - Orren Edgar Bacon, 87, passed away Monday afternoon, January 25 at Crandall Medical Center surrounded by his family. Mr. Bacon was born on May 11, 1928 in New Springfield, a son of Harry and Anna (Gamble) Bacon. A 1946 Springfield High School graduate, Edgar worked on the family farm as well as at Youngstown Sheet and Tube in the shipping department for 19 years. He retired from Iron City Sash and Door (formerly known as Tri-Ad Door) in North Lima in 1993. Edgar was very active in the local 4H and belonged to the Springfield Booster Boys. He mentored many youth and he was a 4H advisor for 49 years, attaining the ranking of oldest advisor in Mahoning County. Edgar received the Father of the Year award in 1974 by the governor of Ohio. While a member of New Springfield Trinity United Methodist Church, Edgar was their choir director for many years. He had currently been a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima. He spent much of his free time with his family and enjoyed being a foster parent. Edgar leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife, the former Peg Osberg, whom he married October 10, 1950; his two daughters, Debara and her husband Frank Satterfield of East Palestine and Sandra and her husband Tom Miller of Brentwood,TN; his four sons, Jim and his wife Debra of Petersburg, Gary and his wife Deborah of Rogers, Keith and his wife Brenda of Lisbon, and Robert of Columbiana; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Darrel, Oris and Roy. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m. at New Waterford United Methodist Church, 46925 State Route 46, New Waterford, Ohio 44445 with Pastors Renae Meggitt, Tina Siroki, and Bob Amey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
