Columbiana- Patricia J. Stacey, age 75 of 220 N. Bayshore Drive, passed away Wednesday evening, April 8, 2009 at Hospice House in Boardman, Ohio. She was born September 11, 1933 in Columbiana, daughter of the late Delmar and Irene Hum. Pat graduated from Columbiana High School in 1951, received her R.N. at Hannah Mullins School of Nursing at Salem City Hospital, and her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the Ohio State University while working evenings at OSU Hospital. She returned to Columbiana in 1959, working as an Assistant Director of Nursing at Salem City Hospital and later acting director. Pat also worked as Clinical Instructor at Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing and followed at YSU in the associate degree program, retiring from teaching in 1978. Pat served on Columbiana Park Board for 5 years, was appointed to city council in 1986 and was elected to City Council in 1987. She was coordinator of Firestone Park Festival for many years and was in charge of volunteer nurses for Red Cross Blood Mobile during its Columbiana visits. Pat was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbiana, and was an avid reader and golfer and enjoyed bowling and bridge. Surviving is her beloved husband Larry, whom she married September 17, 1955; two daughters, Kim (Stacey) Bivens and husband Mark of Charlotte, North Carolina, Stephanie Stacey and husband Lou Gawron of Columbiana; one son, Lawrence W. Stacey II and wife Lisa of Columbiana; six grandchildren, Emma and Hannah Bivens, Lawrence W. Stacey III, Jonathan, Mackenzie and Connor Stacey; two brothers, Robert (Melissa) Hum and James (Wilma) Hum of Columbiana. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbiana with Rev. Ken Kelley officiating. Friends and family may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and two hours prior to the funeral service from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbiana. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. The family would like to thank Mahoning Valley Hospital and Hospice House of Boardman for their excellent care and compassion.
