Paul E. Smith, 85, of 591 Springfield Road, Columbiana, Ohio, passed away at 5:36 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Salem Community Hospital. Mr. Smith was born December 15, 1922 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Lyman and Laura Straitwell Smith. Paul resided in the local area most of his life and was a graduate of North Lima high school in 1941. Mr. Smith attended many different technical schools. He retired from Sheely's Furniture Company of North Lima in 1988, where he had worked for 30 years as an appliance sales manager. Paul was a member of the Victory Christian Center of Lowellville. He served in the U.S. Army and Air force in W.W. II as an aircraft inspector. Mr. Smith was a member of the Fairfield Ruritan Club. He also served as a board member for the Bair Foundation, a Christian Foster Care Agency located in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. Paul was a lifetime member of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International. Paul is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. (Wellman) Smith, whom he married March 12, 1947. Other survivors include two daughters, Wilma Condon of Columbiana and Aimee and her husband Monte Kesterke of Youngstown; one son, Bradley Smith of Boardman; one sister, Gladys Homick of North Lima, Ohio and two grandchildren, Megan Smith and Maggie Condon Fowler and her husband Jimm. Paul was preceded in death by one son, Roger Smith; and four brothers, Harold, Wayne, Robert and Raymond Smith. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. David Thomas & Rev. Brad Smith officiating. Burial will be in North Lima Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008 and one hour prior to the funeral at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana on Saturday.
