Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home 11500 Market St. P.O. Box 281 North Lima, Ohio 44452 330-549-2231 Paul Showalter Swope, 101, of 560 W. South Range Rd. North Lima, Ohio, went to be with Jesus his Lord & Savior at 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2006 at his home. He was born on April 24, 1905 in Singers Glen, Virginia, the son of Emanuel J. and Maggie F. Burkholder Swope. Paul had lived in Mahoning County since he was 10 years old when he moved from Virginia. He taught school 6 years at North Lima Jr. High, then he worked 33 years at General Fireproofing in the sales department and finally he worked at Sheely's from 1959-1997 in sales. He was an active member of the North Lima Mennonite Church where he was involved with music and teaching. He served for 13 years on the North Lima School Board. He graduated from Columbiana High School in 1923 and graduated from Goshen College in 1931. He was preceded in death on August 25, 2001 by his wife, the former Lois Lavinia McFerren. They were married August 21, 1936. Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Ellis (Verna) Kerns of Edinburgh, Indiana and Ruth Ann Jantzi of Darien Center, New York; a son Donald Swope and his wife Joyce of North Lima; a sister Mrs. John (Margaret) Lehman of Goshen, Indiana; a brother Cleo James (Winona) Swope of Kalamazoo, Michigan; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers Ira, John, Oliver, Herman, Emanuel, Joseph and Roy; two sisters Mary Steiner and Nannie Lehman and a granddaughter Monica Lee Jantzi. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at the North Lima Mennonite Church with Rev. Robert Wengerd officiating. Burial will be in North Lima Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 pm Monday, September 18, 2006 at the North Lima Mennonite Church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday, September 19, 2006. Family suggests that material tributes be made to Mennonite Central Committee in care of the North Lima Mennonite Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima.
