Ralph "Cookie" L. Carson, 71, formerly of New Springfield, Ohio, passed away at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Hospice House in Poland. Mr. Carson was born on December 5, 1938 in Columbiana, Ohio, the son of the late Roy Carson and Ruth Longanecker-McGraw. Ralph was a life long area resident, having moved to New Springfield in 1971. He also resided in North Lima and New Waterford. Mr. Carson was employed for three years at Cookies Gulf Station in North Lima, for ten years as a stock clerk at Swopes and retired from Frederick Dodge having worked there for 12 years as a mechanic. Ralph was a United States Navy Veteran, serving from 1956-1962. Mr. Carson is survived by his wife, Sarah K. (Ozengher) Carson, whom he married on August 13, 1966. He is also survived by two daughters, Caroline Carson of Petersburg, Ohio, Mary Carson of New Springfield, Ohio; one son, Shawn (RaeAnn) Carson of New Springfield, Ohio; two sisters, Vicky Shell of Columbiana, Ohio, Debbie (Jeff) Bango of South Haven, Mississippi; three brothers, Robert (Verda) McGraw of Frazeyburg, Ohio, Michael (Mellie) McGraw of East Palestine, Ohio, Roy (Darlene) Carson Jr. of Berlin Center; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Callahan; one grandson, Mason Carson and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren with Rev. John Bartholomew officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren.
