Metz, 97 of 3801 Woodridge Blvd. Fairfield, Ohio, passed away from infirmities of age at 4:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Manor Care at Woodridge where he had been a resident for two months. Raymond was born on February 25, 1909 in New Waterford, Ohio, the son of the late Emery and Vallie Dunbar Metz. Raymond had resided in Columbiana in earlier years and then moved to Forest Park, Ohio, prior to that he lived in Belpre, Ohio and Fort Myers, Florida before moving back to Fairfield, Ohio. He was a retired chemical engineer working for Union Carbide and DuPonte Corporation. He was of the Lutheran Faith. Raymond graduated from Columbiana High School in 1927. Raymond was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death on August 12, 1985 by his wife the former Margaret Jones. They were married May 1, 1929. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Barbara Vandegrift of Forest Park, Ohio and two grandsons James Vandegrift and his wife Donna of Fairfield, Ohio and John Vandegrift and his wife Patty of Lawrenceville, Georgia and two great-grandchildren Katie and Michael. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the Columbiana Cemetery Chapel with Pastor David Conrad officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery.
