Obituary

BOARDMAN - Raymond "Dale" Pitzer, 89, of Rogers passed away early Wednesday morning, August 26 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman surrounded by his wife and son. Dale was born on July 24, 1926, in Beallsville, PA, a son of Luther and Thelma (Nichols) Pitzer. He married the former Ellen Cox on July 18, 1947, and was a member of Lake Mount Church of Christ in New Waterford. Dale proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Riddle DE 185 which had more battle stars than any other DE during WWII. He was a life member of the American Legion 290 in Columbiana, where he and his friend John McGeehen were instrumental in starting the Friday fish fry which proved to be a great success. He was employed by Cherry Hill Furniture Store in Salem, where he crafted fine furniture, and was self-employed at Dale's Fix-It in Rogers, where he worked for forty years. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife Ellen of Rogers; his son Terry (Linda) Pitzer of New Waterford and daughter Phyllis Wright of Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren Mark (Carrie), Amy, John, Laurie, Michelle; and eight great grandchildren Noah, Emma, Lucas, Camden, Peyton, Jasmine, Rahul and Michael. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Virginia and two brothers Robert and Luther. Per Dale's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held at a later date. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
