Raymond G. Summers, 80, of Poland, Ohio, passed away at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, August 5, 2007, at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., following a brief illness. Mr. Summers was born on April 13, 1927 in Poland, Ohio, the son of Raymond K. Summers and Grace Wilkeson Summers Kobel. Raymond lived in New Middletown for 53 years moving to Poland one year ago. He worked for L.T.V. Steel in the open hearth at the Campbell Works for 32 years; he also had worked for 10 years for the Springfield Local School District. Mr. Summers was an active member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Petersburg. He was also a member of the Springfield Ruritan. Raymond served in W.W. II as a Navy Seabee. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities. Mr. Summers is survived by his wife, the former M. Leona Fox, whom he married on February 13, 1954; three daughters Cindy A. Lengyel and her husband Chuck of Columbiana, Karen K. Agnew of New Middletown and Mary L. Semancik and her husband Joe of Bethel Park, Pa.; one son Raymond O. Summers and his wife Becky of New Middletown; two nephews whom he helped raise, James Bailey and his wife Lisa of Concord, North Carolina and Tab A. Bailey and his wife Barb of Leetonia; a sister Mrs. Betty J. Wheeler of Oakville, Ontario Canada; 11 grandchildren Kurt and Luke Summers, Pam and Charlie Lengyel, Stacy and Jennifer Agnew, Amy and Mark Semancik, Emma Bailey and Austin and Cecileigh Bailey. He was preceded in death by twin granddaughters Anna and Kathryn Semancik. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Petersburg with Pastor Ken Hacker and Pastor Larry Klinker officiating. A private interment service will be held for the family. Friends may call from 5-8 pm Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shepherd of the Valley 301 W. Western Reserve Rd. Poland, Ohio 44514 c/o Raymond Summers Memorial Fund.
