Richard C.
Snyder
Jul 5, 1928 — Apr 22, 2015
COLUMBIANA - Richard "Dick" C. Snyder, 86, peacefully passed away on the 22nd day, April, 2015 at Hospice House, Poland, surrounded by his family. Dick was born on July 5, 1928 in Youngstown, a son of Lloyd and Viola (Welton) Snyder. He worked for the BFI Waste Systems, Inc. for 45 years retiring in 1991 as Regional Operations Manager. He formerly attended the Simon Road Church of God, and had currently been attending Midway Mennonite Church. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his daughter Sandy Snyder Hofus of Columbiana, with whom he made his home; his son Rich and his wife Terry of Salem; his sister Velma Banks and husband Bob of Youngstown; two grandsons, Chad Snyder and his wife Linda of Tampa and Mark Snyder of Canfield; and great grandson Nicholas "Nicky" of Tampa. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean, whom he married September 4, 1945 and who passed away October 4, 2011; two sisters; five half-brothers; and five half-sisters. After retiring, Dick and Jean enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV. Dick enjoyed NASCAR racing, High School football and lending a helping hand to everyone. In recent years, Dick enjoyed building cabinets, birdhouses, and various wood items. Dick remained very active in retirement. Sitting around, doing nothing, was not his idea of how life was to be lived. In January 2015, he went to Florida for 10 days in order watch his great-grandson play football. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 28, 2015 at Midway Mennonite Church, 13376 Columbiana-Canfield Rd, Columbiana with Pastor Jesse Johnson officiating. Friends may call one hour before services at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in Dick's memory to Midway Mennonite Church Compassion Fund or to the Hospice House 9803 Sharrot Road Poland, OH 44514. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana has been entrusted with the arrangements. Family and friends are invited to visit www.seederly-mongandbeck.com to sign the online guest registry or to send private condolences.
