Pearl St. Columbiana, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 5:20 p.m. at the Parkside Healthcare Center. Mr. Winegord was born on July 18, 1917 in Columbiana, Ohio. He was the son of Benjamin and Viola Harrold Winegord. Richard worked as a machinist for 37 years at National Rubber Machinery Company, retiring in 1980. He served in the U.S. Marines during W.W. II. Mr. Winegord was a member of Grace Church of Columbiana where he served as deacon in past years. He was a member of the American Legion Benjamin Firestone Post #290, where he served as past commander and was the Street Fair Secretary for fifteen years. Richard was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He graduated from Columbiana High School in 1936 and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Fan. Richard is survived by his wife, the former Helen M. Crawford, whom he married November 29, 1945, two daughters, Carol Gibson and her husband Rick of Sheperdstown, West Virginia and Wendy Boyles and her husband Rich of New Waterford, Ohio, five grandchildren Aaron Gibson, Claire Gibson, Tyler Gibson, Jay Boyles and Jody Boyles. He was preceded in death by five brothers John Winegord, Pete Winegord, Charles Winegord, Everett Winegord, Raymond Winegord and three sisters Sarah Wolfe, Margaret Metz and Edith Durk. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. Robert Joy officiating. Burial will be held in Columbiana Cemetery. The American Legion Benjamin Firestone Post # 290 will conduct a military honors service at the Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that material tributes may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Grace Church of Columbiana.
