Obituary

Robert Raye Houp, 59, of Lisbon, Ohio, formerly of New Waterford, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Robert was born November 11, 1949 in Roaring Springs, Pennsylvania, the son of E. Maxwell Houp and Gwendoline (Rourke) Houp. Robert known to his friends as "Curly" was a 1967 graduate of Crestview High School. He was employed as an upholstery worker for Morelli's Upholstery off of Western Reserve Road in Boardman for ten years. Previously Robert worked at Sterns and Foster in Columbiana, Kenmore Manufacturing in East Palestine and for Custom Upholstery in East Palestine. Mr. Houp enjoyed woodworking, drag racing, golfing and horse back riding. Robert is survived by his wife, Eugenie A. (Esterly) Houp, whom he married on November 30, 1968; his mother, Gwendoline Houp of Columbiana; two daughters, Christina (Bryan) Metzgar of East Liverpool, Megan Houp of Lisbon; one son, Robert J. Houp of Columbiana; his twin sister, Betty Houp of Columbiana; three brothers, Richard Houp of Leetonia, James Houp of Columbiana, Albert (Barbara) Houp of Rogers; and one granddaughter, Teya Metzgar. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Mr. Brandon McElhaney officiating. Visiting hours will be prior to the service on Monday, February 2, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. The family suggest that material tributes be made to the American Cancer Society.
