Pierson, 83 of Salem, Ohio, passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Essex #1 following a brief illness. Mr. Pierson was born on August 6, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Harry H. and Ruth E. Ericson Pierson. Robert had been a life-long area resident. He retired from Buckeye-Industrial Coal Co. of Lisbon where he had worked for 38 years as past secretary and treasurer. He was a member of the Canfield Presbyterian Church. Mr. Pierson served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II in the European and Pacific Theatre. He was a graduate of the Allegheny College in 1947 and a South High School in Youngstown graduate in 1941. Robert was a member of the V.F.W. of Lisbon, a former member of the Salem Golf Club and a member of various Bridge Clubs. Mr. Pierson was preceded in death by his first wife Virginia D. Pierson on January 22, 1989. They were married April 16, 1946. He was also preceded in death by his second wife Norma I. Davidson in 2006, they were married in 1991. He is survived by a son Jon P. Pierson and his wife Vicki of Grove City, Pennsylvania; three grandsons and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son Ray R. Pierson and a brother John P. Pierson. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. Carolyn Griffeth officiating. Burial will be in Lake Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2007 and one hour prior to the service Monday at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.
