Obituary

Robert A. Stockman, 80, of 48522 Heck Road, East Palestine, Ohio, passed away at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Hospice House in North Lima, after having a stroke. Mr. Stockman was born March 9, 1927 in Beaver Falls, PA, the son of William and Anna (Smolnick) Stockman. Robert has lived in the local area since the thirty's. He retired from Wean United in 1987. He worked as a machinist for forty years. Robert was a member of the Columbiana Church of the Nazarene where he served as an usher, Sunday school teacher, trustee, building fund treasurer and church treasurer for thirty years. Mr. Stockman served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands during World War II and discharged in 1948. Robert enjoyed woodworking, gardening and being with his family and friends. He was extremely proud of his grandson Jacob. Survivors include his wife, the former Esther E. Kidd, whom he married September 3, 1949. Also surviving are his two daughters; Pat and her husband Jim Neiheisel of Leetonia and Barb and her husband Vic Tolin of Glendale, AZ. and his grandson Jacob Neiheisel of Madison, WI.. Robert was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, two half sisters and two half brothers. A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Pastor Jan Winnale officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday, March 9, 2008. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to The Hospice of the Valley.
