New Waterford – Roberta L. "Bird" Unger, 90, of New Waterford, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Palestine, OH.

Roberta was born on July 8, 1927, in Beaver Falls, PA, a daughter of Walter and Emma (Campbell) Kelty.

After graduating from Darlington High School she worked at J.J. Newberry 5 & 10 in East Palestine, OH.

Roberta was a homemaker and a gentle soul who loved her family deeply and was tremendously proud of their accomplishments.  She was a member of the New Waterford United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter Bonnie Unger (Charles Hall) of New Waterford; two sons Les (Darlene) of Beloit and Fred (Gina) of New Waterford; a sister-in-law Janis (Don) Sutherin of Poland; six grandchildren Nathan (Robin), Josh (Jessica), Shawn, Ashton (Kevin), Vaughn, and Kylar; two great-grandchildren Hadden and Blake; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Unger and seven sisters Mary Kelty, Edith Goodhart, Imogene Appicci, Norma Liber, Lila Spooner, Rosetta Blagg and Christine Dolan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana with Pastor J. P. Snyder officiating.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., an hour before the services at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
