North Lima, Ohio, was DOA at St. Elizabeth Hospital after bicycling with his wife Rachel when he had an apparent heart attack. Mr. De Atley was born on September 2, 1949 in Columbiana, the son of James Francis and Velma Foray De Atley. Ronald was a life-long area resident. He worked for Chamberlin Surveying as a field agent for five years. He also had worked for Steel Valley Crane in Canfield for 12 years as a mechanical engineer. He was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana. He served as a M.P. at White Sands, New Mexico during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Columbiana High School in 1967 and from Youngstown State University with a B.S. in Engineering. He was an old car enthusiast, a member of Out-Spoken Wheelmen where he had been past vice-president and a member of Salem Square Wheels Square Dance Club where he had been past president. Ron belonged to Boy Scout Troop # 16 where he was an Eagle Scout. Survivors include his wife, Rachel L. Barnot whom he married September 21, 1996; a daughter Jenny Fullum and her husband Dan of Kapac, Michigan, a son Ronald C. De Atley of Youngstown, Ohio; three brothers James De Atley of Salem, Ohio, Dennis De Atley and his wife Hoa of Dallas, Texas and Ken De Atley and his wife Trish of Lowelville; two grandchildren Grace and Gretchen and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2006 at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana with Rev. Thomas Ziegler. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 pm Thursday, September 21, 2006 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.
