North Lima, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown from complications of emphysema. Mr. Grate had been in the hospital for one day. Ronald was born on January 21, 1939 in Pennsylvania, the son of Howard and Ruth McDonald Grate. Mr. Grate moved to the Youngstown area in his youth and had resided locally ever since. He was a bus driver for the Boardman School District for 15 years and had also owned and operated J&R Nursery for 25 years. Ronald was a member of the Western Reserve Baptist Church in Boardman. Ronald had served in the U.S. Army for two years. Mr. Grate is survived by his wife, the former Joanne Wilson. They were married March 1, 1985. Other survivors include a daughter Rochelle Cole of North Lima; a son Douglas Cole and his wife Jennifer of Dayton, Ohio and three grandchildren Kassie, Olivia and Ethan. Mr. Grate was preceded in death by his son Ronald "Randy" H. Grate, Jr. on December 18, 2006 and he was preceded in death by a brother David Grate, Sr. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Western Reserve Baptist Church in Boardman with Rev.
