Ross A. Vestal, 82 of Columbiana, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Mahoning Valley Hospital in Boardman. Ross was born August 4, 1928 in Leetonia, a son of Frank Burl & Viola Donnalley Vestal. He was a 1946 graduate of Leetonia High School. Ross was a machinist for Wm. K. Stamets Co. and retired in 1992 from Jeffco after ten years. He was very active in the Leetonia First United Methodist Church and helped with many projects in the church. Ross was a Korean War Army veteran and belonged to the American Legion Benjamin Firestone Post # 290. He was an avid bowler and golfer in his early years. Ross leaves to cherish his memory his wife the former Lois Hicks, whom he married Nov 25, 1950 two daughters Vicki (Raymond) Matlak of Westerville, Ohio and Carla Packman of Leetonia, two brothers Dean (Ellen) Vestal of Columbiana and Paul (Rosemary) Vestal of Westerville, Ohio, three grandchildren Christopher (Erin) Matlak, Tracey Matlak and Melissa (Tom) Farley and six great grandchildren. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers Donald & Infant Kenneth Vestal and a sister Mary Carol Batman. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Leetonia officiated by Rev. Teresa Smolka. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and from 10 to 11 A.M. Thursday November 11, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Leetonia. The American Legion Benjamin Firestone Post 290 will conduct a military Honor Service at Columbiana Cemetery.
