Roy R. Morris, 87, of 85 North Cross Street, Columbiana, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2008. Roy was born to William A. and Iva (Lewton) Morris on June 29, 1920 in Elkrun Township. Roy was a life long area resident. He attended a one room school, Fairmount Elementary School in Elkrun Township and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1937. He started farming with his father in Elkton and over the years he operated orchards, raised registered polled herfords, chickens and grain until his retirement in 1995. Mr. Morris was also employed at N.R.M. as a welder and assembler from 1959-1983. Roy was a member of St. Jacobs United Church of Christ in Leetonia. Roy was a past master of the Elkrun Grange, a lifetime member of the Columbiana County Farm Bureau and was proud to receive awards for production of corn and wheat. Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Edith D. (Farmer) Morris in July of 1994. Roy is survived by one daughter; Joyce (Gerad) McCowin of Gaithersburg, Maryland, two sons; Wayne (Brenda) Morris of Columbiana and Orin W. Morris of Denver, Colorado, one sister; Ruth (John) Weir of Carrolton and by seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren. Mr. Morris was also preceded in death by one great-grandson Aiden Kidd. Roy will be missed and remembered dearly by all of his family and friends. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. Rev. Jenna Brown will be officiating. A private burial will be held in Hope Cemetery on Monday, January 7, 2008. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jacobs United Church of Christ, Leetonia, or the America Cancer Society.
