Roy Regis Norris, Sr., of 47240 Metz Rd. New Waterford, Ohio, passed away at 8:10 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2007 at his residence from lung cancer. Roy was born on April 14, 1921 in Tarentum, PA, the son of Benjamin Black and Matilda Ley Norris. Mr. Norris moved to the local area in 1959. He worked as a lead dye maker for 30 years with Commercial Shearing and Stamping Inc. of Youngstown, Ohio. Roy was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana. He served in the U.S. Navy in W.W. II serving in the Pacific Theatre as a machinist mate 2nd class on the U.S.S. Porterfield and the U.S.S. Sabine. Mr. Norris was a former member of East Palestine American Legion Post #31. He was an avid card player, a bird watcher and a pool player. Mr. Norris was preceded in death on December 14, 2005, by his wife, the former Luella Klawuhn, whom he married April 26, 1947. Roy was survived by three daughters Marilyn Riley of Youngstown, Fay (Randy) Dean of Kent and Joan (Ken) Bertolette of Leetonia; three sons Darrell Norris (Oksana) and Wayne Norris all of Cincinnati and Roy Norris, Jr. (Marianne) of Litchfield; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mr. Norris was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers. A Funeral Mass will be held April 9, 2007 at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana with Rev. Thomas Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in New Waterford Cemetery where a Military Honors Service will be held. Family suggests that material tributes be made to Hospice of the Valley 120 West County Line Rd.
