Roy O. Yauman, 84, of 5311 E. Garfield Road, Petersburg, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. Mr. Yauman was born on February 4, 1925 on the family farm where he had still resided, the son of the late Ralph and Frances (Edler) Yauman. Roy was a life long area resident of Petersburg. He was a retired farmer and rural mail carrier for over 30 years until his retirement in 1980. Mr. Yauman was a member of the Paradise Lutheran Church of Western Reserve Road. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran and served in the European Theatre serving in Italy. Roy was a member of the Early American Industries Association, Midwest Tool Collectors Association, Ohio Tool Collectors Association, Three Rivers Tool Collection, Missouri Valley Wrench Club, Corn Items Collectors Association, Springfield Township Historical Society, Buckeye Allis Club. He was also well known for growing strawberries for over 69 years and carving wooden miniatures. Mr. Yauman is survived by his wife, Ruth E. (Koch) Yauman whom he married on May 27, 1951. He is also survived by two sons, Jeffry (Wilma) Yauman of Ringgold, Georgia and Keith Yauman of Petersburg, Ohio; two grandchildren, Michelle Yauman and Jason (Angel) Yauman and one great grandson, Julian Yauman. Roy was preceded in death by his infant son James Arthur Yauman and his brother Ralph Yauman Jr. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Paradise Lutheran Church on Western Reserve Road with Pastor Alex Hilliard officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service at the Paradise Lutheran Church. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers material contributions can be made to Springfield Township Historical Society or Paradise Lutheran Church.
