Ruth Louella Cleckner, 96, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, April 3, 2019.

Ruth was born in Salem, Ohio, on February 9, 1923, a daughter of the late Charles and Stella (Tyson) Couchie.

She was of the Methodist faith and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Leetonia.  Ruth had been very active in the church Women's Society, teaching Sunday School, and serving as a Methodist Youth Foundation Leader. Ruth was often found working at Sparkle where she was the assistant produce manager.

She was an avid sports fan and loved following baseball, basketball and football. Ruth followed the Cleveland Browns and Indians, OSU Buckeyes, Univ. of South Carolina Gamecocks, and the Dallas Cowboys. She spent many hours planning her viewing schedule as to keep up with all of her teams.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter Mary Lou (Gene) Powell of South Carolina and her beloved grandson Gennaro Moscato, who she raised after her daughter passed away.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Cathy Sue Moscato, and her siblings Glenn, Wilbur, and Helen.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm St., Columbiana, Ohio, with Pastor Cynthia Midlick officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 8 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that material contributions be made in Ruth's memory to the First United Methodist Church of Leetonia, 50 Lisbon St., Leetonia, OH 44431.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at Parkside Health Care Center for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Ruth in her time of need.
