LEETONIA - Ruth H. DeRhodes, 85, passed away Friday afternoon, November 18 at her home in Leetonia surrounded by her family. Ruth was born on February 21, 1931, in New Waterford, a daughter of Chalmer 'Hop' and Gertrude I. (Young) Webber. A 1949 Fairfield Centralized High School graduate, she married Walter A. DeRehodes on June 26 that same year. Ruth, along with Walter, owned and operated DeRhodes Greenhouse Retail and Wholesale. She belonged to East Fairfield United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school. Ruth's interests led her to be a past president of the County Historical Association, and a member of the Columbiana Historical Association, Farm Bureau, Tri-County Greenhouse Growers, and African Violet Society. She will be missed greatly by her husband of 67 years, Walter; her three daughters Debra Ann Cooper-Suminski and her husband David of Bristol, WI, Catherine Gustafson and her husband William of Sebastian, FL and Susan Kellner and her husband Jim of Leetonia; her sister Mary Arlene Webber of Parish, FL; five grandchildren Gretchen Shea, Erika Heller, Sara Graham, Valerie Bates and Jake Kellner; and three great grandchildren Jocelyn Shea, Mark Thomas Shea and Colton Graham. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gladys Webber, her son-in-law Richard "Dick" Cooper, and grandchildren Dana Jean and Danielle Jo Cooper. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana with Reverend Susan Antolik officiating, along with Reverend Charles Ready. The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22 at the funeral home, as well as at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Ruth's memory to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St, Boardman, OH 44512.
