McGuckin, 88 of 6525 High St. Worthington, Ohio, passed away at 8:30 a.m. at Sunrise of Worthington, on Sunday, March 25, 2007. Mrs. McGuckin was born on April 12, 1918 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Leroy and Emma Conrath Lau. Mrs. McGuckin had resided in Columbiana until five years ago when she moved to Worthington. Ruth worked at the Columbiana County Court House in the recorders and auditors office for ten years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana. Mrs. McGuckin was also a member of the American Legion Post #290 Auxiliary of Columbiana, the Columbiana Historical Society and the A.A.R.P. Ruth was preceded in death on April 24, 1984, by her husband, William H. McGuckin. They were married January 17, 1940. Other survivors include a daughter Janis Kay Harrer and her husband Robert of San Francisco, CA, a son David McGuckin and his wife Jeanne of Columbus, four grandchildren Shannon (Jason) Gardner, Brian McGuckin and Tony McGuckin all of Columbus and John Harrer of San Fransico, CA, two great-grandchildren Jacob Gardner and Sydney Gardner both of Columbus, and a close cousin Kathryn Pyers of San Diego, CA. Ruth was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Walton and a brother Paul Lau. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. Scott Parker officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. Family suggests that material tributes be made to Columbiana E.M.S. or to the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana.
