LEETONIA - Ruth A. Witmer, 75, passed away unexpectedly late Sunday evening, July 3 at her home. Mrs. Witmer was born on November 3, 1940, in Columbiana, Ohio, a daughter of the late John Robert and Barbara Ellen (Shaum) VanPelt. She was a very caring wife and mother. Ruth attended the Salem Mennonite Church. She is survived by three daughters, Lorraine (Clyde) Witmer of Monterey, VA, Phyllis (Arlin) Benner of McGaheysville, VA, and Thelma Witmer of Dayton, VA; three grandchildren, Austin and Jared Witmer of Monterey, VA, Courtney (Colin) McGurrin of Bartow, WV; one great granddaughter, Eleanora McGurrin of Bartow, WV; brothers Lloyd VanPelt, Floyd (Esther Yoder) VanPelt, and Wayne ( Rebecca Lehman) VanPelt, all of Columbiana. She is preceded in death by husband Harry, three daughters, Beverly, Wanda and Diana; one son Clifford; and special sister-in-law Luella Falb VanPelt. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8 at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 3990 Renkenberger Road, Columbiana, Ohio 44408. Salem Mennonite Church ministry will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Mennonite Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 at Pleasant View Mennonite School, 2419 Beeson Mill Road, Leetonia, Ohio 44431.
