Obituary

Samuel R. Lindsay Jr., 92, of Columbiana, passed away Monday, July 9 at his home. Sam was born on December 25, 1919 in Columbiana, a son of Samuel Sr. and Lillian Edna (Breyer) Lindsay, and was a lifelong area resident. A graduate of Columbiana High School, he was a manager at a rubber company. He also ran a workshop for the Mahoning County MRDD. Sam was a past president of the Columbiana Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Columbiana, and of the P2 Councilmen. He received the Citizen's Award from the Chamber of Commerce for helping pass a levy to build a school on the South Side. Sam leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife Beryl Clarice (Dye) Lindsay, whom he married on July 25, 1942; three daughters, Susan (Lonnie) Baun of Columbiana, Carol James of North Carolina, and Becky (Dennis) Simpson of Leetonia; a sister, Nancy (Dale) Young of South Dakota; a sister-in-law, Doris Lindsay of California; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Columbiana Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Randy Marrocca officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jack, and a son-in-law, Howard James. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.
