Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the North Lima Cemetery with Rev. Dale Crum officiating for Sarah J. Macklin, 96, of Salem, formerly of Edinburgh, PA, who passed away Thursday morning. Sarah was born June 24, 1915 in Petersburg, Ohio, a daughter of Park and Alice (Grove) Dressel. She moved to Edinburgh from Poland in 1954. She showed and bred over 100 champion Airedale terriers at the Harbor Hill Kennel, which she owned and operated with her husband. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Springfield, the Airedale Terrier Club of America, the Steel Valley Airedale Terrier Association, and the Airedale Terrier Club of Northern Ohio. Her husband, Carl C. Macklin, whom she married December 1, 1936, died on June 19, 1995. Besides her husband, Sarah was preceded in death by her brothers Park and Karl Dressel and her sister, Kathrine Beck. She leaves to cherish her memory a sister-in-law, Yvonne Dressel of New Middletown, and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Material tributes may be made in memory of Sarah to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 2427 Columbiana Rd., and to the ATCA, 1921 W. 11th St., Irving, TX, 75060. Arrangements are being handled by the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima.
