Sharyn R. Gutierrez, 64, of Salem, passed away Sunday, April 15 following a courageous battle with cancer. Sharyn was born October 2, 1947 in Warren, a daughter of Rayen "Pete" and Mildred (Evans) Seifert. She was a dedicated mother and worked in the home health care industry. Sharyn enjoyed crocheting, crafts, movies and card games. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends and her pets. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband, Juan "Chico," whom she married on April 21, 1967; her sons Charles of Youngstown, Lucas (Jolinda) of Plain City, and Marc (Christina) of Rogers; her daughters Juanita Plant of Richmond, Va. and Miria Minich (Joe Steel) of Defiance; her sister Mrs. Beverly Phillips of Austintown; fourteen grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Besides her parents, Sharyn was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Joseph Gutierrez II. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 19 at Mount Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima with the Reverend Melinda Q. Lacefield officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ Cemetery. Due to Sharyn's extended illness, the family is requesting contributions be made to the family to help offset medical expenses and funeral costs.
