COLUMBIANA - Sherwood Taylor II, 71, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, November 5. Sherwood was born on October 24, 1943 in Monroe, LA, a son of the late Sherwood and Rachel (Britts) Taylor, and stepson of Charles Emory Smith. He grew up in Christiansburg, VA and was a graduate of the Kentucky Military Institute. He later went to College at Chicago Institute of Design. Sherwood worked as an interior designer in Roanoke, Virginia and later bought Golden's Flowers in Columbiana, which he owned for 16 years. Later he worked at Bloomin' Crazy Flowers in Boardman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbiana, and volunteered at the Caring Hands Food Ministry in East Palestine. In his earlier years he was a Jaycee, a Ruritan, and served as a member of the Columbiana Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of the community and was loved by many. Sherwood touched many people's lives through his floral work and his many kind gestures of support. His kindness was often expressed through his correspondence by postcards, sympathy cards or cards of encouragement. Sherwood is survived by his wife of 50 years Daria (Dee Dee) Taylor; his son Todd Park Taylor (Lisa Hurley) of Columbiana; daughter Tara Lynn Taylor (Gary Franko) of Pittsburgh, PA; two grandchildren, Morgan Lane Taylor of Rogers and Malory Park Taylor of Salem; a brother Donald Smith of Christiansburg, VA; and three sisters Sallye Trobaugh of Harrisonburg, VA, Cindy Persinger of Charlottesville, VA, and Machele McCalister of Spottsylvania, VA. Sherwood was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Shelby McKay Taylor, and a brother Charles (Chuckie) Smith Jr. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm St., Columbiana. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 9 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to The Caring Hands Food Ministry, 20 West Martin St., East Palestine, OH 44413. The family would like to thank all the wonderful neighbors and friends who have supported them over the years.
