POLAND - Shirley Ann Beight, 78, of Youngstown, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 28 at Hospice House in Poland with her loving family around her. Mrs. Beight was born on October 19, 1936 in Woodworth, OH, a daughter of Vernon and Edith (Price) Fry. A life-long area resident, she married Oris E. Beight on June 14, 1958, and together they would raise three children. Shirley worked as the secretary of Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima for 10 years, retiring in 1998. Shirley was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima, and dedicated much of her time there. She was treasurer of the Disciples Sunday school class, a Sunday school teacher, a Bible school teacher, a choir director, and a past church treasurer. Besides being a homemaker, she also enjoyed bowling, belonging to three different leagues - the Holiday Bowl, Camelot, and Columbiana Lanes. She also was a Girl Scout leader and trainer for many years in the Lake to River Council and a Boy Scout cub leader. She leaves to cherish her precious memory two daughters, Cathryn Bowell of Youngstown, with whom she made her home, and Cammy (David) Garland of Canfield; a son Timothy Beight of Oberlin; seven grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; a brother Richard "Bob" Fry of Austintown; and two sisters Georgia Perrett of Struthers and Beverly Arthur of Augusta, GA. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oris, who passed away on March 17, 2011, son-in-law Anthony Bowell, daughter-in-law Jean Beight, sister Joan McGinnis, and two brothers Donald Fry and Vernon L. Fry Jr. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave., North Lima, with Pastor Renae Meggitt officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima, and also one hour prior to the service, at 10:00 a.m. at the church. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mrs. Beight's special caregiver Ginny for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Shirley for the past five years. They would also like to thank Hospice House of Poland for helping everyone through this difficult time. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
