Shirley Mae Whitfield Horger, 71 of New Middletown, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 11:00 am at her home from complications of cancer. Mrs. Horger was born August 24, 1935, the daughter of John and Mildred Fink Schneider. Shirley was a homemaker, a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima and a member of Astra Spa water aerobics. Shirley was preceded in death on April 16, 1996, by her husband, Kenneth L. Horger. She was also preceded by one son Dwayne "Doc" Whitfield. She is survived by two daughters, Sheryl Lyda of North Lima and Mrs. Kimberly K. (John) Chance of Cold Springs, MN; one step-daughter, Illa Jean (Frank) Vito of Hubbard; two sons Thomas (Martha) Whitfield, Jr. of Columbiana and Kevin K. Whitfield, Sr. of New Middletown; a step-son Kenneth (Gina) M. Horger of Struthers; a sister Mrs. Marion Molnar of North Lima; three brothers Jack (Johnnie) Schneider of North Lima, Mr. Roy (Sue) Schneider of Litchfield and Robert "Sonny" (Kathy) Schneider of New Springfield; eight grandsons; Michael, Christopher, Josh, Kevin Jr., John (Marines), James, Rob and Chad, two granddaughters; Jessica and Kaylin, two step-grandsons; Elisha and Harley and two step-granddaughters; Danielle and Trista. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2007 at Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima with Rev. Ralph Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Sunday, March 11, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service Monday, March 12, 2007 at the church. Family suggests that material tributes be made to the Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima.
