CINCINNATI-Stella Sophie Yacher, 95, passed away Wednesday morning, September 28, at Mt. Washington Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio after a short illness. Stella was born on April 3, 1921 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Martin and Sophie (Markowitz) Maslach. She lived in Leetonia, Ohio until 2006, when she moved to Cincinnati to be closer to her children. She was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School in Campbell, Ohio and a member of the Polish National Catholic Church her whole life. Prior to her marriage, she worked as "Rosie the Riveter" in Girard, building tail sections of airplanes for the war effort. She married Joseph on February 20, 1944. She later worked at Berg's Bretzels (Dan Dee) in Leetonia for several years along with helping her husband to farm, raising chickens. She studied cosmetology at Boardman Beauty Academy, graduated and served as an instructor. Stella was an excellent seamstress and made many articles of clothing for her family. She was also an excellent cook and enjoyed making special birthday cakes for family and friends. Described by a family friend as "a force of nature", Stella made molehills out of mountains. She leaves a son, John M. Yacher; a daughter, Susan (John) Maloney; a grandson, Scott A. Maloney, all of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Michael Yacher, her parents, her daughter Jacqueline Maureen Yacher, her son Michael Joseph Yacher, her sister Mary Brault and brothers Joseph, Julius and John Maslach. Stella was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion Benjamin Firestone Post 290 and NAMI. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 5 at 10 a.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima with the Very Reverend John Rencewicz, II celebrating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 4 from 6-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima, Ohio is entrusted with the arrangements. Material contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans and NAMI. The family thanks Mt.
