POLAND - Sylvia A. Spencer, 88, of North Lima, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning at Hampton Woods surrounded by her loving family. Sylvia was born on July 4, 1926 at home in North Lima, a daughter of Alvin and Emma (Black) Lodwick. A graduate of North Lima High School, she was a life-long member of Paradise Church. She married Herbert Spencer Jr. on December 14, 1946. Sylvia enjoyed roller skating well into her seventies, and went on many bus trips with friends. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of New Springfield Post #2799, and served as Secretary at one time. She was active in her church, as a member of the choir and as the church typist. She leaves to cherish her precious memory two sons, Kenneth Spencer and Lowell (Mamie) Spencer, all of North Lima; a daughter Kathy Alexander of Berlin Center; and three grandchildren Ellie, Sadie and Bri Spencer. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert who passed away October 16, 1980, her sister Lois, and her brother David. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Paradise Church, 10020 New Buffalo Road, Canfield, with Pastor David Parry officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima, and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Sylvia's memory to the memorial fund at Paradise Church.
