Thelma L. Thomas, 82, of New Springfield, passed away at Hampton Woods on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Thelma was born on April 21, 1928, the daughter of Earl and Elnora Blower Reese. Thelma was a 1946 graduate of Springfield Township High School. She enjoyed camping, crafts, crocheting and mowing grass. Mrs. Thomas was a member of New Springfield Church of God and their women's group. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband Claude M. Thomas, whom she married on June 18, 1949. Thelma is survived by one daughter, Peggy (Richard) Jones of New Springfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Nick (Tao), Ryan (Angela), Casey and four great-grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by one brother, LeRoy Reese. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at New Springfield Church of God with Pastor Alan Leach officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church at New Springfield. Burial will be in New Springfield Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Hampton Woods for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that material contributions be made to the building fund at the New Springfield Church of God.
