Box 281 North Lima, Ohio 44452 330-549-2231 Thomas Berton, 58, of 662 Beech Ave., Boardman, passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2007, from cardiac arrest after a short illness. Mr. Berton was born on February 23, 1948 in Salem, Ohio, the son of Clarence and Laura Gibson Berton. Tom was employed as Superintendent by Dave Sugar Excavating for 30 years. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Springfield. Mr. Berton was a decorated U.S. Marine. He had served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of V.F.W. and a member of the American Legion #2799 Triangle Post of New Springfield. Tom is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Guthrie, whom he married September 1, 1973. Other survivors include his parents Clarence and Laura Berton of Petersburg, two daughters Christine Hanysh and her husband Chad and Anna Mackall and her husband Scott both of Austintown, Ohio; a sister Carolyn Day and her husband Randy of Petersburg; a brother Jerry Berton and his wife Barb of South Carolina and two grandchildren Michael and Hannah. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima with Rev. Frank Podolinsky officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery.
