YOUNGSTOWN – Thomas R. Schmidt, Jr., 23, of Youngstown, passed away at his home Thursday morning, April 17, surrounded by his family.
Tommy was born on July 25, 1990 in Youngstown, a son of Thomas R. Schmidt Sr. and Carolyn Spatara. He was a 2009 graduate of Poland Seminary High School.
He was employed by Meshel MASCO, a workshop for people with disabilities in Boardman, where he loved to work and had many friends.
Tommy loved listening to music and dancing. He loved the outdoors, mowing the grass, riding his bike, or just sitting outside drinking his pop. He was involved in the Special Olympics and excelled on their baseball team.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his mother Carolyn and stepdad Chris, with whom he made his home; his father Thomas of New Springfield; his maternal grandmother Edith Galano of Boardman; his siblings Angela, Alan, Nyki, and Adam, all of Youngstown; nieces and nephews Elise, Christian, Kevin, Emma, Tod, and Annabella; and special friend Mindy.
Tommy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents James and Helen Schmidt, and maternal grandfather John Marino.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 22 from 5-7 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima, and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, with Pastor Joseph Sheely officiating.
Material contributions may be made Seederly-Mong and Beck, PO Box 1, Columbiana, OH 44408 to assist the family with expenses.
