COLUMBIANA - Thomas M. Whitfield Jr., 56, of Columbiana, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 13 at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Mr. Whitfield was born on April 27, 1958 in Youngstown, a son of Thomas M. and Shirley (Schneider) Whitfield Sr. A 1976 graduate of South Range High School, Tom was employed by Columbiana Foundry for 34 years. Tom loved to do woodworking, and was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife and high school sweetheart, the former Martha Haschak; his father Thomas and step-mother Marlyn of New Springfield; two sons, Michael Thomas and Christopher Andrew, both of Columbiana; two sisters, Sheryl Lydas of New Springfield and Kimberly Chance and her husband John of Cool Springs, MN; a brother Kevin Whitfield of Struthers; numerous stepbrothers and stepsisters; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his mom Shirley; his stepfather Kenneth Horger; and brother Dwayne A. Whitfield. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday May 16 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. The family requests that material contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
