SALEM - A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 5 for Trudy Jane Smith, 70, of Columbiana, who passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2015 at Salem Regional Medical Center. Trudy was born on May 25, 1945, in Mercer, PA, a daughter of Robert and Lillian Hougelman. The Homecoming Queen, she graduated from Sharpsville (PA) High School in 1964. She married Roy E. Smith on August 14, 1976 and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed her flower garden, and take extra care with her amazing petunias. Trudy leaves to cherish her precious memory her husband Roy; mother Lillian; brother Robert Hougelman and his wife Josephine; mother-in-law Sally Smith; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and Gary Langer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Robert, brother Gary, father-in-law Carl E. Smith Sr., brother-in-law Carl E. Smith Jr., and nephew David Smith. The family suggests that if friends wish, donations may be made in Trudy's memory to St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center, 1899 West Garfield Road, Columbiana, OH 44408.
