Velma L. Reese, 92, of Canfield, passed away at 10:45 p.m. of infirmities of age on Tuesday, January 8, 2008. Mrs. Reese was born in Salem, Ohio on May 10, 1915, the daughter of Chester A. and Elma (Shank) Hixson. Velma was a life long area resident and a homemaker. She was the oldest member of the Paradise United Church of Christ, were she was a past Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Reese was a member of the North Lima Senior Citizens. Velma was preceded in death on December 21, 1996 by her husband Dudley K. Reese, whom she married on November 24, 1938. Mrs. Reese is survived by one daughter; Mrs. Marjorie Campman of Columbiana, two son's; Mr. Howard Reese of Canfield and Mr. Dudley Reese Jr. of Bangkok, Thailand, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Velma was preceded in death by one sister; Doris Bishop and by one brother; Grant Hixson. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Paradise United Church of Christ in Canfield with Rev. Steve Geitgey officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2008. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery. The family suggests that material tributes be made to Paradise United Church of Christ.
